Saira Umar

Pronunciation: Sai-ruh Oo-mar
What I do: Create graphics and content, Lead the Writer's Group
​What I am: Burmese, Chinese and Pakistani Writer & Artist

Saira Umar is a storyteller with a love for many mediums and interdisciplinary work. Her studies included Musical Theater, Psychology, and Art! She also did the Disney College Program in Disney World, Florida, and then worked as an English/History/Art teacher.

Currently, she is aspiring to work in animation production, development, and/or writing. She hopes to tell positively impactful stories and is especially passionate about stories concerning identity, family and culture, and following dreams.

Saira trained as a screenwriter in the PBS Children's Writing Program and was previously a Semi-Finalist in the Universal Animation Writing Program and Walt Disney Imagineering Imaginations (Themed Attraction Design). 

Some interests include: mythology & world cultures, performing, puzzles/escape rooms, cooking/food, video games, and crafting!

Fun Fact: Saira is allergic to fruits and vegetables! (Really.)
