Yaou ChenCharacter Design Mentor
Hi! I am Yaou Chen. I am a passionate storyteller and designer who lives in Los Angeles/Shanghai. I graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2021. During my school years, I did an Art Internship at Pixar where I gained my first studio experience working on Turning Red and Luca. I love applying my passion and knowledge to creating charmingly out-of-world characters that bring joy to life. After graduation, I’ve created various characters for Skydance Animation, Nexus Studios, Baobab Studios, and other productions. Being a Character Designer is a blessing that you get to witness the creation of a beautiful groupmind.
Being a member of the BIPOC artist community myself, I’ve always loved coaching young aspiring artists. Can’t wait to share everything I learn from my experience as a Character Designer and help out our animation production at Asians in Animation! |
