Nicholas PiñaVisual Development Artist
Hey hey! My name is Nicholas Piña, and I am a Visual Development Artist and Background Painter! I have worked on a variety of different animation projects with Bento Box Atlanta, including Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm, Best Fiends, Millennial Hunter, Big Bruh, and Pastapocalypse. I also co-directed the SCAD Animation Studios short film Bearly while finishing my MFA in Animation at SCAD.
I fell in love with the world of animation after watching Spirited Away and Toy Story with my family. I was so blown away by the fantastical characters and worlds featured in these films and knew I wanted to find a way to recreate that magic. This led to checking out tons of art books from the public library, taking art classes every summer, and attending art school. Since graduating, I have worked on various parts of the animation pipeline, including key illustration, texture design, 3D paintovers, prop design, and character design. I love putting my heritage into my work by designing fashionable characters inspired by my mixed Japanese and Mexican heritage. I love connecting with other artists and making cool plein-air paintings together! Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or Instagram! Link to my work |
