Fiona Rieta

Animator

Fiona is a Vietnamese-Filipino animator born and raised in San Jose, California. She
has a sketchbook and pencil in hand everywhere at all times. Although she liked
drawing a lot growing up, she didn’t consider art as a career until sophomore year of high school- the premiere of Big Hero 6. As she watched Baymax soar across the screen in his cool little suit, she had an epiphany. So she said goodbye to Computer Science and immediately set off to research the possibilities of pursuing Animation in college.

During her time at San Jose State University, she participated in as many short films she could as soon as she could animate. She also worked on set for a few live-action student productions as part of the Art Department. Her fondest moments of college were the times she worked alongside her fellow Shrunkenheadmen, being silly goobers and filmmaking together.

She hopes to continue animating and bring so many more stories to life. She’s excited to meet and work with all the other artists during the Immersive Lab!
