August 1, 2021

We are so excited to present our first coffee chat with the amazing Jeanette Lim, writer and script coordinator over at Netflix Animation! We welcome writers of ALL levels to stop by and bring questions about being in a writers room, writing for animation, pitching shows, and working your way up the writing ladder.

Jeanette Lim is a writer with roots in Singapore and Las Vegas. She dreams up stories that range from irreverent animated comedies to family crime dramas. What stays true is her passion for immigrant, working-class, and women-centered narratives, which are vital parts of her own identity and community.

Having climbed the assistant ladder in the entertainment industry, Jeanette has worked on productions like Deadwood: The Movie, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, and American Dad! Last year, she was a 2020 Film Independent Project Involve Fellow and wrote the short film, Alma y Paz. Jeanette and her comedy writing partner, MarvaWhitaker, are currently writing an episode for an upcoming Netflix animated series. Recently, she pitched two animated television shows and is now developing her live-action dark comedy, Neon Sisters. Jeanette is a graduate of Stanford University and spent time working as a community-based researcher in Latin America and Northern California before becoming a screenwriter.
