Erica LeeVisual Development Artist
I’m Erica, a Taiwanese/Cantonese Asian American based in Los Angeles currently working as a senior concept artist at Squid Games, Inc. I do freelance on the side for various studios to gain more experience in both animation and games.
My journey started after graduating RISD hoping to get into an animation studio, but, at the time, I knew very little about animation production or even the jobs an artist can have outside of obvious ones like matte painter or storyboard artist. I started taking classes at places like Brainstorm School and Warrior Art Camp to gain a better understanding about the paths I can take to enter the entertainment industry at large. A wonderful friend gave me my first opportunity at a non-profit organization to do concept art and background design work for a puzzle game that then led me to working as the main illustrator creating storyboards, character designs, and backgrounds for a YouTube series. These experiences cemented my journey in pursuing concept art/visual development thus leading me to now. I am thankful to be doing what I love while continuing to pursue improvement and experience in my journey as an artist.
