Dean TammachatAnimator
I live in a tri family with an American, Japanese, and Thai background. I was born in
California and moved to Japan for a few years before permanently returning to the US. Growing up, my parents introduced me to a variety of American and Japanese animated films such as Studio Ghibli’s “My Neighbor Totoro” and Disney’s “The Lion King” that ignited my passion for 2D animation. I loved drawing my favorite characters from shows and games that I’ve played, and I eventually learned to create my own animations in high school with Toon Boom. I studied at California State University, Fullerton and joined organizations such as the pencil mileage club, taken multiple art anatomy electives, and was introduced to social media to better showcase my artwork online. During my job searches, I’ve volunteered to collaborate in 2d animated shorts and do contract work as a Clean Up Artist. The people I’ve worked with have been very friendly and helpful, and I’m grateful for being surrounded by a supportive community. Despite the competitiveness of the industry, I am hopeful that my experiences and connections will soon lead up to opportunities in the animation industry.
